Answers to frequently asked questions
Using the App
The app is available on the App Store for iOS devices and on Google Play Store for Android devices. Search for "Catch Register" and download it for free.
Yes! The app can be used in offline mode. Your catches are stored locally and sync automatically when you reconnect to the internet.
You can automatically update the app via the App Store or Google Play Store. We recommend enabling automatic updates so you always have access to the latest features.
Fishing and catches
On the Sessions screen, create a trip with the "+" button, then tap Catches on the trip's card — the same "+" button there logs a new catch. Enter the fish species and weight and you're done. Optionally you can add the rig, rod, bait and much more, and attach a photo. If you allow it, the app automatically downloads the current weather data and attaches it to the catch.
The app starts with empty lists by default, including fish species. This way you only track the species you actually fish for — no need to scroll through long lists of irrelevant values.
Yes! You can add photos to every catch from your gallery. For now the images stay on your device. With the upcoming Pro subscription they will also be backed up to the cloud automatically, so they survive a lost phone and show up on your other devices.
Open the catch, then tap Edit at the bottom of the card. The form that opens is where you change the details — and where you delete the catch, too. Deletion cannot be undone.
Location and community
The app automatically saves GPS coordinates when you log a catch, if location permissions are granted. The coordinates are recorded based on your phone's current position.
Water bodies live among your master data: open Menu → Master data → Water bodies and use the "+" button to add one by name. Tapping a water body in the list also shows the trips and catches linked to it.
Featured catches are the best community-submitted catches that have been reviewed and approved by us, and we show them on our website. If you'd like yours among them, open the catch, expand its details and tap Featured upload. In the app, Menu → My Featured Photos shows your own submissions and their status — other anglers' catches don't appear there.
Privacy and user data
Your catch and trip data is stored securely in Google Firestore. Your photos are still on your device only; with the upcoming Pro subscription they will be stored in the cloud as well. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
Yes, you can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Open Menu → Settings, tap Logout in the Account section, then choose Delete account on the screen that appears — you'll be asked to sign in again to confirm. Deletion only affects data and photos stored within the app; photos saved in your phone's gallery are not affected. If you'd prefer us to delete your data, get in touch using the button below and we'll take care of it.
Yes, the app complies with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. For details, please read our Privacy Policy.
